Cuatrecasas has advised on the €15.1 million financing granted by private equity firm Buenavista Equity Partners, through its Buenavista NextGen Urbano fund, to New Capital Aparcamiento Torrecárdenas. This company was incorporated by New Capital 2000 as the concessionaire of the 35-year administrative concession awarded by the Andalusian Health Service, with the participation of investor Hercainvest Solutions.

The project involves the construction and operation of a six-level parking facility next to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital in Almería. The financing will enable the development of an infrastructure with capacity for over 2,000 vehicles, replacing and reorganizing the hospital’s current parking areas, which are affected by a structural shortage and accessibility issues for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel.

Commitment to sustainability

The car park incorporates sustainable mobility and energy efficiency criteria, with 240 charging points for electric vehicles, parking for 330 bicycles and a rooftop photovoltaic system for on-site consumption. The facility will also include a recreation area and cafeteria integrated into the rooftop, which will be made available to the hospital for public use.

The Cuatrecasas team advising on the transaction was made up of lawyers Carlos Lasarte de Launet, Mercedes Tulla, and Álvaro Heras, from the Finance Practice.

Commenting on the transaction, Carlos Lasarte said: “We are very pleased to have participated in the financing of the concession for the construction and operation of much-needed infrastructure for the most important hospital in the province of Almería. Buenavista is financing this transaction through a vehicle that manages funds from the Regional Resilience Fund, which forms part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and is financed with NextGenerationEU resources. This is a project of particular social relevance for its surrounding area and one that meets the eligibility criteria of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.”
