Cuatrecasas advised German asset manager Commerz Real on selling the Forum Algarve shopping center in Faro to Spanish asset manager Alfana Investment Management for €130 million.

Commerz Real acquired Forum Algarve in 2000, while it was still in the development phase. The shopping center has a total area of 27.400 m² and a store occupancy rate of practically 100%. Last year, it received almost eight million visitors, and retail sales were over €120 million.

The team advising Commerz Real was led by Sofia Gomes da Costa, Real Estate and Urban Planning partner.

Sofia Gomes da Costa commented on the transaction, saying: “It has been a great honor for me to have been part of Forum Algarve’s history for over two decades, from advising on its acquisition to leading its sale. Few projects enable a lawyer to participate in the two defining moments in the lifecycle of an investment of this scale. This transaction closes a successful chapter for Commerz Real and reaffirms a relationship of trust built over generations. I am truly grateful for the trust placed in our team.”
