Cuatrecasas reinforces its position as leading law firm with 58 areas in ranking in Portugal and Spain

The firm has managed to place 58 practice areas in the ranking, of which 25 are positioned in Band 1, and has achieved 156 individual recommendations, with 35 position improvements and new entries in Spain (including the specific guide for Barcelona) and Portugal in the 2026 edition of the prestigious legal directory.
In Spain, the firm has placed 37 practice areas in the ranking, 21 of which are in Band 1, and has received 119 individual recommendations, with 27 improved rankings and new entries. Its “Banking and Finance,” “Intellectual Property,” and “Corporate/M&A: High-end Capability” practices have risen to Band 1, and its “Life Sciences” practice has advanced to Band 2.
In Portugal, the "Corporate and M&A: The Elite” practice area stands out, achieving Band 1. It joins three other areas already ranked in Band 1: “Real Estate,” “Restructuring/Insolvency,” and “Transportation: Aviation.” In total, across the different bands, Cuatrecasas in Portugal has 21 practice areas in the ranking.
At an individual level, 27 lawyers from Cuatrecasas have improved their ranking or entered the rankings in Spain. Among the most significant promotions are two new Band 1 rankings: Juan Aguayo, in “Capital Markets: Equity,” and Josep Riba, in “Dispute Resolution: Corporate Crime.”
In Portugal, eight lawyers have entered or moved up in the rankings. Three rose to Band 1: Hugo Nunes, in “Planning”; Paulo Costa Martins, in “Banking & Finance: Regulatory”; and Tiago Amorim, in “General Business Law: Public Law.” Partners Nuno Sá Carvalho, in “Real Estate,” and Pedro Marques Bom, in “Competition/EU Law” remain in Band 1.
