SubscribeCuatrecasas advised Hope Care, S.A., a Portuguese healthtech company specializing in certified medical device software (MDSW) for remote patient monitoring, on its €6 million Series A funding round. The round comprised entirely new capital.
Private equity and venture capital fund manager Iberis Capital led the funding round, with participation from Vieira de Matos – VDM Capital, S.A., and existing shareholder Buenavista Equity Partners.
The funding will help drive Hope Care’s European expansion, strengthening the commercial and operational capacity required to launch and scale new remote patient monitoring programs.
Fifteen Local Health Units in Portugal currently use Hope Care’s technology, collectively covering approximately 45% of registered users of Portugal’s National Health Service. The regional health services of Madeira and the Azores also use the technology. Beyond the public health system, the platform is used by private healthcare providers, social care organizations and municipalities.
Vasco Bivar de Azevedo, who specializes in venture capital, led the Cuatrecasas team advising on the transaction, with support from José Archer de Carvalho.
Vasco Bivar de Azevedo said: “This transaction reflects the growing maturity and competitiveness of Portugal’s healthtech and medtech startups. The quality of their solutions, combined with their founders’ vision, is earning them increasing recognition across Europe. Hope Care exemplifies this progress. Its remote monitoring technology is already widely deployed across Portugal’s healthcare system, and the company has established a presence in demanding markets such as France and Germany.”
He added: “This Series A funding round will enable Hope Care to consolidate and accelerate its European expansion. It was a privilege to advise on a transaction that marks a pivotal stage in the company’s international growth.”
