Equality

The concept of equal opportunities is integrated into our corporate culture. We promote effective gender equality in all practice areas and work groups, and we anticipate any signs of discrimination.

Our diversity and equal opportunities management is governed by the following principles:

  • Accepting and respecting diversity by promoting and guaranteeing non-discrimination based on ethnic group, color, age, sex, gender identity, ideology and opinion, religion, nationality or any other personal, physical or social characteristic.
  • Guaranteeing equal opportunities by implementing proactive and cross-cutting measures in all areas of human resource management.
  • Promoting gender equality regarding access, training, promotion, and professional development, with the main aim of reaching parity in the partnership and in management positions.
  • Implementing flexible work measures that promote a work-life balance for all employees and external collaborators.

The firm's Gender Equality Plan (2025–2028) implements measures that, for the most part, apply to all our employees. Under Spanish law, Cuatrecasas is obliged to implement this plan, which clearly reflects the firm’s vision. It is available on the firm’s website.

We have implemented several measures, including:

  • Renewing management committees, promoting female partners and managers giving preference to women if there are several eligible candidates.
  • Consolidating methods and a work culture that facilitates a work-life balance: promoting a rational use of time and flexible and co-responsible work.
  • Allowing female associates with children to reduce their target billable hours by 5%, dedicating that time to their professional development, particularly in the commercial area.
  • Encouraging the participation of female partners and managers in Promociona, a program for female partners and managers promoted by the Institute for Women and Equal Opportunities and the Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organizations.
  • Developing the “Women in Business” platform since 2014, as a meeting point to promote networking and women’s career advancement by holding training and events, and sessions on current topics.

Equality Training

All new hires receive mandatory training on equality and non-discrimination, which is periodically reinforced with new sessions to improve the teams' degree of commitment to our policy and compliance with our equality plan.

We also conducted various awareness-raising sessions:

  • Incorporating capacities, building inclusion: Awareness session as a driver of change, encouraging attendees to modify their behavior and develop greater empathy. It also aimed to give an insightful window into disabilities and to bring about a real change through empathy. By discussing personal experiences, it sought to dissipate fears and prejudice against disabled people based on the normalization principle.
  • Open minds, diverse teams | Overcoming unconscious bias: Several paths of action were implemented:
    (i) Training for the recruitment team to identify different biases and how they affect objectivity in recruitment processes.
(ii) Training for the Recruitment Committee and area managers to enhance diversity management practices in attracting and retaining talent.
(iii) An awareness webinar for the entire firm to explain the basic principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how to take on individual responsibility when interacting in different professional and personal contexts.

Smart Work

In November 2021, we implemented Cuatrecasas Smart Work, a flexible work arrangement that combines time in the office with remote working. The program is voluntary for employees, and there has been a high uptake since its implementation. Employees who join this program can work 40% of the week from home, which must include Wednesday and Friday. The program has had a high uptake since its launch.
