Macquarie secures $235 million financing to refinance Gasoducto de Morelos debt

Cuatrecasas has advised Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) on the financing provided by SMBC, Inbursa, Monex, Banco Sabadell Mexico and Mega Bank to refinance the debt of Gasoducto de Morelos, SAPI de CV, and finance the potential acquisition of additional assets in the hydrocarbon sector.

Citi and Citibanamex acted as administrative agent and collateral agent, respectively. The transaction totaled $235 million.

The 172 km-long Morelos Gas Pipeline carries natural gas through the states of Tlaxcala, Puebla y Morelos for the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). Designed to supply 337 million cubic feet per day, it is a strategic asset for energy provision in central Mexico.

The Cuatrecasas team of lawyers advising on the transaction included León López, Gizeh Polo, Rafael Rodríguez, Juan Eduardo Montes de Oca, Myriam Daniela Sancliment, Mariajosé Raimond, María Isabel Santana, Juan David Mina and Jorge Antonio Jiménez, all from the Mexico City office.
